Sydney Festival 2014: Black Diggers

Directed by Wesley Enoch and written by Tom Wright, Black Diggers uncovered the contribution of First World War Aboriginal Diggers, following their exceptional stories from their homelands to the battlefields of Europe and their return home. An all-male, all-Indigenous cast evoked these heroic men, largely unknown to history. This ambitious work for Sydney Festival 2014 opened on the eve of the centenary of the First World War marking the significance of this event and the contribution of so many Australians.

Why did we fund this project? We were delighted to again be able to support Wesley Enoch in continuing to reveal our rich indigenous heritage through theatre.

Drama Theatre, Sydney Opera House. 18, 19, 21-26 January 2014.
