Good Pitch, in partnership with Documentary Australia Foundation (DAF), brought documentary filmmakers together with foundations, NGOs, campaigners, philanthropists, policymakers, brands and media around leading social and environmental issues - to forge coalitions and campaigns that were good for all these partners, good for the films and good for society.

In September 2015, 6 documentaries were pitched. Nelson Meers Foundation was thrilled to support the documentary, WHITELEY, directed by James Bogle and produced by Sue Clothier. Whiteley is a visual journey into the life and legacy of one of Australia's most celebrated artists, Brett Whiteley. Through archive, drama and visual effects, this raw and intimate film shows Whiteley's driving passion to express himself through his art.

Why did we fund this project? The Nelson Meers Foundation believes that the storytelling power of documentary has an undeniable power to engage empathy, raise awareness, and inspire action in social change initiatives. The Whiteley documentary expresses the importance of nurturing and supporting all young artists who assume the responsibility of taking Australian art to the world.
