Beaker Street Festival is changing the way people access and engage with science by pairing it with culture and the arts.
Beaker Street transforms Hobart, Lutruwita/Tasmania into a vibrant meeting place for ideas, featuring talks, performances, immersive experiences, and late-night conversations that invite audiences to explore complex issues in accessible and unexpected ways.
By bringing scientists and researchers into public spaces and blending cutting-edge research with outstanding cultural and artistic experiences, Beaker Street creates opportunities for people to connect with the scientific ideas shaping our world through curiosity, creativity, and shared discovery.
A key focus of this work is expanding opportunities for women in STEM through the Roving Scientist Program. Our support helps grow this program, enabling more women researchers and early-career scientists to participate and thrive in public-facing science communication roles that intersect science, culture and the arts.
