Chanel Contos, CEO of Teach Us Consent, addressed the National Press Club in partnership with Women in Media on the growing role of social media algorithms in promoting misogyny, outrage and radicalisation online.
Chanel used her address to highlight the urgent need to address the systems driving this content and introduced Teach Us Consent’s Fix Our Feeds campaign.
The campaign calls for meaningful reform of social media algorithms and has attracted support from a broad coalition concerned with gender-based violence, men’s mental health, eating disorders, democracy and social cohesion.
