Skateboarding has evolved from a grassroots movement into a global Olympic sport, with Australia leading the way on the international stage.
Project Skate supports the next generation of Australian skateboarders to thrive both on and off the skateboard with a view to competing in the Olympics.
Through its High-Performance Skateboarding Program, Skate Australia combines elite sporting development with education and personal growth, helping talented young Australians reach their full potential.
Many athletes supported by the program are aged 11–18 and come from regional, remote and lower socioeconomic communities. Financial barriers can limit access to coaching, equipment, travel, competition opportunities and educational support.
The program helps address these challenges, providing access to high-performance pathways, athlete wellbeing services and flexible learning opportunities. It also equips young people with valuable life skills, including resilience, leadership, confidence and personal responsibility.
With the Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games on the horizon, Project Skate is helping create a more accessible and sustainable pathway for emerging Australian skateboarders to pursue their ambitions, regardless of their financial circumstances or where they live.
