Thoughts and ideas series from the ebony aboriginal & Torres Strait islander institute

The Ebony Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Institute has launched Thoughts & Ideas, a new interview series exploring First Nations knowledge, perspectives and ways of understanding the world.

In the first interview, Aunty Dr Mary Graham, a Kombumerri and Wakka Wakka Elder, respected scholar and national treasure, explores the meaning of Autonomous Regard, offering a profound perspective on how people understand themselves, their relationships with others and the world around them.

The series invites audiences to listen, reflect and engage with First Nations knowledge, ideas and philosophies, and consider what they can teach us about the world we share.

Live conversation at Fed Square, Melbourne

Extending the conversation beyond the interview series, the Ebony Institute and Fed Square will present a special live event on 5 November at The Edge, Fed Square, Melbourne.

Aunty Dr Mary Graham will be joined by Dr Eugenia Flynn and Ngarra Murray for a conversation exploring truth, justice and what Australia could become if it finally learned from those who have been here longest.

The event offers an opportunity to hear from three important voices and consider how First Nations knowledge and perspectives can help shape a more just and thoughtful future.
