We are privilged to be providing operational support to Environmental Leadership Australia (ELA). ELA is a not-for-profit, non-partisan organisation championing community and political leadership on climate change. ELA specialises in supporting climate leadership among community leaders and political leaders, both emerging and current, from conservative backgrounds, who have been previously underserved by traditional environment and climate groups.
Reducing emissions is complex and requires long-term planning. Between 2022 and 2050, Australia will have 9 federal elections and around 48 State and Territory elections. This means the only viable pathway to sustainable, lasting support for climate action is bipartisanship. Bipartisanship allows business and communities to make their own decisions based on policy certainty, without fear that a future Government will unwind progress after the next Election. Working towards bipartisanship on climate policy is a core focus of our work.
Climate action is not just an issue for one side of politics – it requires all of us. ELA’s collaborative approach, which harnesses community support for climate change, works constructively to advance practical, evidence-based climate and environmental policy to ensure a prosperous future for all Australians.
