ACO Foundations is an in-school music education program designed to improve developmental and educational outcomes for children in low socio-economic public schools.
Based on research by Dr Anita Collins, the model provides an intensive instrumental program beginning in Year One and continuing through to the end of Year Three, integrating music learning into the core classroom curriculum to support lasting educational impact.
The program recognises that music learning delivers benefits far beyond musical skill, positively influencing brain development, academic achievement, emotional and behavioural growth, motivation, engagement and wellbeing.
We fund ACO Foundations because it directly addresses educational inequity at a critical stage of childhood development. By providing sustained, high-quality music education in low socio-economic schools, the program gives students access to learning experiences that are proven to strengthen brain development, improve academic outcomes, and support emotional, behavioural and social wellbeing.
