Agatha Gothe-Snape

About

Kaldor Public Art Projects (KPAP) are pioneers in the field of public art. They are the first, and longest-running, public art organisation in the world and bring groundbreaking contemporary art, free-of-charge, to the Australian public. Their ambitious temporary art projects inspire new perspectives on everyday experience and extend art into everyday life. Led by founder and director, John Kaldor, they have a proven history of achievement and an established international reputation. Beyond the confines of a set venue or format, all their projects are artist-led.

In 2019, KPAP celebrate their 50th anniversary with a series of significant events, including a major exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW.  As part of these celebrations Nelson Meers Foundation supported Australian artist Agatha Gothe-Snape in a significant new commission to develop and present a significant new project.

The public art that Kaldor Public Art Projects have presented over its 50-year history is to be celebrated.  We were delighted not only to acknowledge the importance of KPAP in the contemporary art landscape within Australia, but also to provide the opportunity for an established and acclaimed, mid-career Australian woman artist to reflect on the organisation’s projects, their significance and to frame its history with a new lens.
