About

Arts Law is Australia’s independent, non-government national community legal centre for the arts. It provides free or low cost specialised legal advice, education and resources to Australian artists and arts organisations across all art forms, on a wide range of arts related legal and business matters. It is widely recognised as the trusted source of advice for artists and creative communities and as the preeminent authority on artists’ rights and arts law in Australia. It’s aim is to empower artists and creative communities through the law.

The Nelson Meers Foundation is proud to be funding Arts Law’s Artists in the Black program, which delivers targeted services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists nationally, supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, filmmakers, musicians and arts organisations with legal advice and resources.

Access to legal and business advice and resources is critically important.  We are privileged to be supporting the Arts Law Centre with its targeted program to support our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.
