Pinchgut Opera is a small Sydney based opera company that focusses on bringing Baroque opera to its rapt audiences, and providing opportunities for young Australian singers and musicians (whether based here or overseas) to perform these works. For the first time, in 2014 Pinchgut Opera brought the remarkable Chimney Sweep by Salieri to the stage.

We are delighted to have supported Pinchgut Opera’s youngest Chimney Sweep principal cast member, Alexandra Oomens. When Alex first auditioned for Pinchgut in 2012, she impressed the company enormously, not only with her tone and polish, but by daringly including a work by Messiaen in her repertoire – not your standard audition fare!
