Public interest journalism is news that informs the community. It is the accurate, reliable journalism that lies at the heart of public discussion, diversity of voice, open justice, accountability and informed decision-making. It is an essential public good, and it is under threat in Australia and around the world.  Established in 2018, the Public Interest Journalism Initiative seeks to ensure a sustainable and diverse public interest journalism landscape in Australia. PIJI has produced extensive research, contributed submissions and presented its findings to multiple government inquiries.
