About

Rachel Cusk is renowned for her astute examination of modern culture and its impact on women’s lives. The award-winning author appeared live via video from the UK to discuss her extraordinary career in writing and Second Place, her new fable of human destiny and decline, with Annabel Crabb.

Nelson Meers Foundation was thrilled to support Australia’s most significant writers’ festivals, and one of Sydney’s first major cultural events since the year of the Covid lockdown. And what an honour to bring the magnificent Rachel Cusk to Australian audiences – a magnificent writer at the height of her powers.

The Sydney Writers’ Festival has been engaging audiences since 1997, enabling “readers and writers to exchange thoughts and opinions, perspectives and philosophies, creating a powerful community based on radical dialogue and respectful debate”. This resonates strongly with the Nelson Meers Foundation’s priorities.
