Artback Programme, New England Regional Art Museum (NERAM)

‘Artback’ toured works of art to remote regional schools, whose students are unable to attend galleries. Many of these children had never seen an original artwork.

During the Nelson Meers Foundation’s support of Artback, the ‘Artback’ van visited schools in Baan Baa, Bellatal, Ben Lomond, Bingara, Boggabilla, Bonshaw, Boomi, Bullarah, Burren Junction, Carinda, Collarenebri, Croppa Creek, Delungra, Emmaville, Fairfax, Gravesend, Gulargambone, Hernani, Lightening Ridge, Mallawa, Mungindi, North Star, Pilliga, Quambone, Rowena, Tenterfield, Tulloona, Walcha, Walgett, Wallangarra, Warialda and Wee Waa.

Why did we fund this organisation? The Nelson Meers Foundation supported the NERAM Artback programme as we recognise the importance of sharing art with regional students who rarely have the opportunity tovisit an art museum or to talk directly with practising artists. This gives these young people the opportunity to see things in different ways, inspiring conversation and building social values and cohesion.
