AGNSW Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art guided tour
Established in 1871, Sydney's AGNSW presents fine international and Australian art in one of the most beautiful art museums in the world. It aims to be a place of experience and inspiration through it's collection, exhibitions, programs and research.
In a national first, Indigenous-led tour guides are now available daily to lead patrons through a tour of art highlights in the Gallery, including artworks in The National 2021. Their in-depth knowledge and connection to Indigenous art enhances the appreciation and understanding of the Collection.
Why did we fund this project? Nelson Meers Foundation was able to support the recruitment of 2 specialist Indigenous guides. The Indigenous-led guided tours at the Gallery is Australia's first - and will grow the appreciation, enjoyment and understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and culture.
