Sydney Story Factory: Celebrating their First Birthday
8 August 2013
It's been an action-packed year and Sydney Story Factory are thrilled to announce that in their first year they've had nearly 1,500 student enrolments. Students have come from a wide range of backgrounds, and nearly 100 different schools. 21% of students were Indigenous, and 40% from non-English speaking backgrounds.
During their first birthday party, students sang, performed and read some of the wonderful work they've created over the past year, with a little help from adult friends including Claudia Karvan, Jess Tovey and Alli Sebastian Wolf and her talented troupe of actors.
Their extraordinary first year has included:
- Nearly 1,500 student enrolments, with each enrolment receiving an average of three hours personal attention to their writing.
- A wide range of students from nearly 100 different schools. 21% of students were Indigenous, and 40% from non-English
speaking backgrounds.
- More than 415 volunteers screened and trained. Together, they put in over 6,000 hours - or three years' full-time work.
